Patient Care Pavilion - 3A

The Setting

3A is a telemetry unit in Paoli Hospital's new Patient Care Pavilion. The floor receives a wide variety of patient types from the typical cardiac patient to patients needing a higher level of monitoring compared to that which is provided on a medical-surgical floor. This unit also serves as the hospital's stroke unit.

The Experience

Working on 3A has allowed me to continue to expand my nursing knowledge and grow as a professional Registered Nurse. I have been exposed to pre- and post-care of cardiac catheterization and coronary artery bypass patients, managed intravenous drip medications, and grown in my ability to prioritize and provide exceptional patient care.

This floor has given me the chance to also work in a Charge Nurse role. Working as Charge Nurse has helped me learn to prioritize and delegate more effectively while managing a patient group. This role has also allowed me to reflect on how the hospital runs in a broader sense, including admitting patients, bed placement, and transferring patients between units.
