Memorial 3 Involvement

Memorial Three Unit Council is made up of approximately ten nurses from the unit. The council aims to improve patient care, patient satisfaction and nursing satisfaction on the floor through research, peer collaboration and project implementation and evaluation. Meetings are held one to two times a month depending on current projects and unit needs.

Accomplishments

  • Worked with other council members to implement a study testing new oxygen tubing ear protectors that stay in place and help prevent skin breakdown on the backs of patient ears from oxygen tubing

  • Compiled data from the six week unit study about the performance and patient satisfaction of the new oxygen tubing ear protectors compared with the current oxygen tubing ear protectors

  • Worked with a fellow council member to create a board with the unit council findings to present at the Great Patient Care Fair hosted by United Health Services in March
